Star Trek (2009)
I loved this film and agree its probably better than all the previous ones.
I liked the previous ones too though.

Gran torino
Best film of 2009 IMO.
Pretty original story and loved his way of delivering racial slurs without it sounding insulting. biggrin.gif

Inglorious
Wasn't a huge fan tbh.
Was entertaining enough but didn't leave me feeling blown away.

Law Abiding Citizen
Excellent film but I agree it felt a bit far-fetched at times.

Office Space
Brilliant film.
Definately worth a watch if you've not seen it!

Zombieland
Another belter.
Bill Murray part was hilarious!

Gamer
Meh, was alright.

The Road
Depressing and pointless but powerful themes.

Avatar
Dances With Wolves with Smurfs.
Agree with what everyone's said about it being nothing revolutionary story-wise.
And the visuals are amazing though I'm still not sold on 3D.
However, I really liked this film and I've seen it 3 times now.

Daybreakers
Saw this a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it.
Agree with Dan that they could've explored the premise a bit more.
However, the 'bridge fail' part made me laugh out loud! biggrin.gif

Book of Eli
Saw this the other day and was thoroughly impressed.
I didn't know anything about it before I went in other than it was in a post-apocalyptic setting.
The religious theme in it did grate with me slightly but didn't detract much from my enjoyment.
If you like the post-apocalyptic setting and like playing games, Fallout 3 is full of win. wink.gif

Went to see Invictus last night and would highly recommend it. Another excellent Clint Eastwood movie and fantastic performance my Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela.

I have always been quite a fan of movies highlighting the many issues in Africa, unlike most of those movies this one is quite uplifting, in contrast to Hotel Rwanda for example, another movie I would highly recommend!

Some of the better films I've seen recently...

Taken: Liam Neeson kicks ass for 90 minutes, great film, great action. 8/10
Hurt Locker: Modern war film, didn't really do much for me. Blu Ray looked good though. Over hyped. 5/10
Sukiyaki Western Django: Japanese take on spaghetti western Tarrantino style. Pretty slick if you like foreign films. 6/10
Conversations With Other Women: Based on a one night fling, split screen for the duration, good experiment, surprisingly effective. 8/10
Blind Side: Bullock played classic Bullock here, probably better understood by people with knowledge of college football in USA. 6/10
The Ghost: Pretty good Polanksi political thriller, with Blair-era themes. Dodgy accents aside it's a solid story told well. 7/10
The Good, The Bad, The Weird: Another Asian take on classic Western. Style, action, adventure, explosions and great fun. 9/10
Hot Tub Time Machine: Does what it says on the tin but isn't as funny as it could/should have been. 6/10
Hot Rod: Juvenile comedy following a wannabe stuntman. Great offbeat humour. 7/10
Speed Racer: Manga from Matrix directors, total eye candy, must-own Blu Ray (picture-wise). Rubbish story though. 6/10
Bad Lieutenant: Nicolas Cage goes back to Crazy Cage, black comedy, works well. 7/10
Drag Me To Hell: Awesome old-school horror film from Evil Dead's Sam Raimi. OTT comedy horror. Enjoyable 8/10
The Killer Inside Me: Ruthless and violent portrait of a serial killer. Shocking, but very effective. Watch with caution. 7/10
Prince of Persia: Middle of the road hollywood / Disney action blockbuster. 100% what you expect. 5/10

Inception - See it now!! smile.gif
Loved the movie, bit confusing the first time around, but worth watching. The special effects are fantastic and it really doesn't feel like a 2.5 hour movie while watching it

Inception - 5/5 Awesome movie!
Toy Story 3 - 5/5 Favourite film of the series!
Youth in Revolt - 2.5/5 Disappointing comedy with Michael Cera. Roll on Scott Pilgrim!!!
Book of Eli - 3.5/5 Not bad post apocalyptic film from the Hughes Brothers.
Predators - 3.5/5 Cheesy sequel to the classic 80's film, some really bad plot points.
Shutter Island - 4/5 Great creepy Scorcese film. Great performances all round.
The Hangover - 4.5/5 Awesome comedy, finally got around to watching it.
